Forest Service, an agency of the Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, today announced its arrangements for this year’s Christmas tree sales.

The sale of Christmas trees for cities, towns and villages is already underway with trees being collected and transported to usual locations in preparation for decoration and lighting up festivities. Forest Service is again providing a tree for the front of the City Hall, Belfast. This year a 40 year old, 50 foot tall Norway spruce, which was grown in Hillsborough Forest will adorn the city centre.

The Forest Service intends to supply regular size Christmas trees for the domestic market to wholesalers and retailers. This approach is being continued to match a clear trend in customer preference for buying Christmas trees at their convenience through local shops and supermarkets.

Members of the public who wish to buy their trees directly from a forest have an opportunity to do so, at certain times, from any one of six locations across Northern Ireland. Dates and times when trees can be purchased from the forests listed below will be advertised locally and published on the Forest Service website at www.forestserviceni.gov.uk
