The base for forestry training in Northern Ireland has recently transferred from Pomeroy Forestry School to Greenmount Campus of the College of Agriculture, Food and Rural Enterprise (CAFRE), near Antrim.
The aim of the move is to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the delivery of forestry training and complements the wide range of land based training and qualifications, including horticulture and rural countryside management, which CAFRE already provides.
The new Forestry Training Unit at Greenmount can provide a range of forestry skills and management training, from tree establishment through to harvesting, and these courses can lead on to further and higher education, either here in Northern Ireland, Great Britain or the Republic of Ireland.
Requests or queries relating to forestry training should be directed to the Forestry Training Unit administration team at CAFRE. The telephone number is 028 944 26873 and the email address is ciaran.mulholland@dardni.gov.uk
