Mixed woodland.
Access from Slieve Gullion Forest Park car park.
All year.
The reserve was created to conserve an area of semi-natural woodland with a wide variety of habitats and a rich diversity of flora. Tree cover varies from predominant oak through mixed deciduous woodland of beech and rowan, to mixed conifers, Scots pine and larch and finally to an old pure Norway spruce stand. The ground vegetation ranges from grass/rush to Calluna/Vaccinium communities.
Red squirrels are common and a herd of wild goats from Slieve Gullion shelters in the area in winter.
