Nature Reserves on Forest Service Land

There are many National Nature Reserves on Forest Service land as well as our own designated Forest Nature Reserves.  This section gives details of the locations and how they are described in subsequent links.
The reserves are listed alphabetically by County and numbered. These numbers are reproduced on an outline map of Northern Ireland which gives the approximate location of the reserve. A six figure map reference gives the approximate centre of the reserve (the Ordnance Survey NI 1:50000 map shows many of the reserves and gives an explanation of how to use map references). The distance and direction from the nearest town or village is given.
The reserves are all described in the same format which gives the area of the reserve in hectares, the special interest of the reserve, the access route and the best time to visit.
The public is allowed to visit most reserves without restrictions other than those imposed by byelaws designated to protect the special interest of each reserve or the forests in which they are contained.
Please remember these are areas reserved, managed and used for the protection and maintenance of wildlife, do nothing to damage or disturb the reserves.
